Freelance Fundraiser Role

Walk Ride GM is recruiting a freelance fundraiser to help the organisation as we transition into becoming a charity.

Walk Ride GM campaigns for safer streets across Greater Manchester, supports a growing network of local groups, and pushes decision-makers to deliver active travel infrastructure that works for communities. The organisation wants to expand – reaching more people, deepening community engagement, and moving towards dedicated staff. To do that, sustainable funding needs to catch up with ambition.

This is a time-limited freelance engagement (approximately 20 days over six months) with a focused, practical scope. The fundraiser will design a supporter-to-donor journey, develop donation appeals and a regular giving proposition, explore a simple membership model, and identify realistic corporate sponsorship prospects. There is also light-touch grant scoping to lay the groundwork for future applications.

The goal is to build systems and momentum that Walk Ride GM can sustain and build on long after the contract ends.

Strong experience in individual giving or digital fundraising is essential, along with a track record in corporate sponsorship or partnerships and the ability to work pragmatically in a small, volunteer-led organisation. An understanding of campaigning or values-driven organisations matters. Knowledge of the active travel sector is a bonus.

To apply, send a CV and cover letter to harry.gray@walkridegm.org.uk by Tuesday 19th May. Full details are available in the contract specification.
