Over the last year, Walk Ride Whalley Range has been supporting schools in Whalley Range to find ways to reduce traffic outside the school gates as well as encourage parents and carers to walk, wheel or cycle to school, where they are able. This film shows our experience of supporting a school to run a School Street in Whalley Range, Manchester.
Here’s what we’re asking our GM councils to do:
- More School Streets, where feasible, and faster rollout
- More support to schools to encourage active travel to school
- Camera enforcement of School Streets, not volunteers
Manley Park Primary School (MPPS) is part of the TfGM funded school street pilot, and as been running a trial School Street every school day since January 2023.
